STAFF TEAM
Here are some profiles of the adult members of staff who look after the cadets when they are at the squadron and out on activities. In addition to these staff members, the squadron often works with staff from other local units and Wing headquarters.
Flt Lt Derek McIlroy
Commanding Officer
Flight Lieutenant McIlroy joined the Air Training Corps in 1996 following his service in the Royal Air Force. After becoming commissioned in 1999, Flight Lieutenant McIlroy became the Commanding Officer of 1740 (Clydebank) squadron in 2008. Flight Lieutenant McIlroy also holds qualifications in various shooting disciplines.
Flt Sgt (RAFAC) Tom White
Squadron Adjutant
Flt Sgt White joined the squadron in 2008 as a cadet. He worked his way through the ranks achieving the top cadet rank of CWO before leaving when he turned 20 in 2015. He then became a CI for almost a year before returning to uniform as an adult SNCO.

Sgt Brown joined the squadron in 2014 as a cadet.
CI Joe Connelly
Civilian Instructor
CI Connelly joined the squadron in 2006 following his role as the wing radio officer. CI Connelly is very knowledgeable in everything to do with radio communications following his work with the Royal Air Force. His knowledge and enthusiasm in the subject has helped many cadets gain their communicators badge not just in the squadron but in the Wing.

CI Craig Harley
Civilian Instructor
CI Harley joined the squadron in 2010 were he was introduced to the squadron by his son who was a cadet at the time, and he has been with us ever since. CI Harley has a keen interest in aircraft modelling and runs classes in aircraft modelling for cadets as a squadron project. He also has a keen eye for aircraft recognition and helps with the squadron aircraft recognition teams.
